There is more to concrete than pouring and waiting for it to set. Here’s how we do it:
-
When you reach out to us, we’ll schedule an on site meeting for a no-obligation, free quote at our earliest convenience.
We always take time to visit the site before getting started, discussing options, timelines, and expectations thoroughly.
-
Ensuring the site is properly prepped is crucial for achieving a high quality end result. This involves:
Removing any existing concrete, gravel, or soil by hand or machine
Measuring levels to prevent water pooling and potential flooding
Drainage installed
Boxing the area, backfilling with gravel and compacting.
Adding any reinforcing required
Masking nearby property to prevent concrete splatter and overflow
-
With the groundwork laid, its time to pour. This entails:
Monitoring the weather to ensure any rainy or windy conditions will not affect the final quality
Hand-pour or pump the concrete
Levelling and smoothing the poured concrete through techniques like screeding and floating
-
*Following placing and before cutting. If the concrete is an exposed finish, washing off is done before making saw cuts.
Concrete functions best when cut into sections. This improves its performance when the ground inevitably moves, minimising the chances of cracking and shifting. For this stage we:
Wait until the concrete is set to the ideal firmness - which can depend on factors like the temperature and humidity
Measure and make cuts at optimal intervals, using either manual tools or specialised machinery
-
To ensure longevity of concrete and protect it from stains, weather damage, and wear and tear, as well as making maintenance easier, sealing is crucial.
Depending on the desired finish, concrete needs to be washed and sealed in different ways. This part of the process involves:
Waiting the right amount of time for the concrete to be set, usually 14+ days.
Washing the concrete thoroughly with diluted acid.
Applying layer/s of sealant and ensuring it is completely dry before use.
-
Similar to a paint job, concrete requires upkeep to preserve its finish and prevent damage. This may include re-sealing.
